Paula Williams

Picture
Paula Williams is a San Francisco Bay Area artist

I am Paula Williams and I am a macrame artist. I have had many titles over the years massage therapist, holistic healer, wife, mom, however artist is a new one for me. I have been a massage therapist / holistic healer for over 20 years. Unfortunately, during covid I severely injured my dominant arm, so returning to my life's passion was no longer possible. Although the emotional and physical fallout of this injury is a struggle, it has given me a wonderful opportunity to spend time with my three boys.  Giving me time with them as they go through teenagehood, and to take the time to learn all of the creative things I didn't have time for as a full-time working mom.

After working my way through a list of things I wanted to learn to do, such as tie dying, body products, cold pressed soaps knitting, gardening, baking, and candle making, I started to get bored. Although I enjoyed many of these things I didn't feel any passion for doing them. As I was hunting through Pinterest to find something crafty to fill my time, I stumbled upon a wall hanging and thought, "hey that might be fun." After a single project I was dying to get my hands on as much cord as possible. The ideas just started flowing. A year and a half later, not a day goes by where a new idea that I want to try doesn't pop into my head.

After 20 years of untying the knots in people's bodies, I have found peace in creating art through tying knots.
